If you have a website that sells a product or service then you will need traffic to monetize your website. there are lots of ways to bring traffic to your site, there's Pay per click, traffic exchanges and of course SEO. I ve used all three methods, but by far the best and least inexpensive way of generating traffic is article marketing.
What is article marketing? In a nutshell article marketing is simply writing articles about the topics in your website ( goods, services, information etc.) and submitting these articles to several big article submission doirectories found all over the net.
How to - article marketing
a. write an article about your website or product within the website
1.1 200-300 words
1.2 at the end of your article make sure you have a resource box - a resource box is where you will leave your digital signature - i.e. you wrote something abourt spyware ( because your selling spyware on ytour site) - this is what you will leave at the end of the article - Thomas duff hates spyware -for more info visit - http://spywareremovers.com/ - that,s called the authors resource box and digital signature
Its that simple really unless you hate writing like i do - if you cant get up the energy to write you can try this nifty bit of software instant article wizard it lets you create content in minutes even if you dont know anything about the subject your writng about.
b. submit it to major article directories on the web

How does article marketing work?
a. the search engines will send you traffic if they see a lot of 'backlinks" pointing to your site
in this case your authors resource box or digital signature serve as links pointing back to your site - this makes the search engines ( google, yahoo, msn) think that you have very relevant content on the subject your writng about and will reward you with higher search engine ranking- thus more traffic!
b. when you submit to these article directories you essentially "sign-off" on the articles youve written - anyone can now copy and paste them to their website ( with the provision of whoever using your articles leaves your name and authors box intact)
c. when someone copies and pastes your article unto thier site that means more backlinks to you and more traffic! I have an article about cruise liners that i wrote in 2003 and it still gets me a couple of thousand hits to my website a month! imagine if I had 30 or so articles like that! my site would be flooded!
The only tedious part about article marketing ( aside from actually writing them) is submitting them - I used to hire my neighbours son to do this for me - he would hand-submit 50 of them a week manually to the article directories. Eventually he got tired of doing it ( I dont blame him- it is mind numbing) Fortunatley I came across another great piece of software called Instant article submitter that does 90% of the work for you. The software has a pre-loaded number of article submission directories ( 200 plus) the software registers your name and email on all these sites ( a one time process) and you load your article and the software does its stuff.
The only thing I dont like about Instant article submitter is that it's effeciency rate is about 45% - meaning that if you submit to 100 directories - only 45 will go thrrough - but hey that 45 is more than enough to get you traffic and it would take you about 3 days to submit them by hand anyway!
Ive made great progress with both software(s) ive mentioned the first really takes the "thinking" process out of writing articles the other takes care of submitting them for you.
My results with the software - ive been able to "write" 30 articles a week and submit these articles to over 350 directories in one week - the result was an increase of 200% in sales. yep- 200% !!! - and an increase of about 4,000 visits a week ( not too shabby) plus an increase of 600 dollars a month on my adsense income!
So yes, to answer your question, article marketing works - its just a numbers game. Write enough articles and submit them consistently - and the visitors will come, buy, and click your adsense ads! - remember your article stays on the net for a verrry long time - the more people who pick up your article the more links you will have - a great way of building passive traffic and best of all - passive income.
